Product Questions
What is the minimum flow rate if adjusted to the lowest setting? (Not taking other variables such as head height into account).
Question by: Wilder on Feb 18, 2022, 11:20 PM
When set to the lowest setting, this pump would be pushing roughly 40gph.

Does 1/2” diameter tubing make a good seal around the output adapter or is 3/8” tubing recommended?
Question by: Wilder on Feb 18, 2022, 10:57 PM
Hey There, thanks for the question! The output on this pump is 3/8" therefore 1/2" tubing will be too big.

Hello, will this pump work well in a 16x16x10 frag tank?
Question by: helene m lozzi on Dec 31, 2021, 2:52 PM
Depending on the head pressure, this may be a bit small. We would recommend one starting near 130 GPH.

I'm looking for a submersible pump to place in a 5 gallon bucket to pump water from the bucket into my display tank for water changes. I would allow it to run while I refilled the bucket from other buckets until total volume of the water change is achieved. My question regarding the sicce mouse concerns the inlet and outlet. What kind of plumbing(hard/soft) will it accept? I would prefer flexible tubing over sch40 for ease of use and storage. If this is not the pump for me, any recommendations would be welcome.
Thanks BRS!

Hi Khris,
While the Mouse is a great little pump I don't think you would be happy with it for this application. It has a maximum head height of just under 2 feet meaning that unless you were pumping water directly into your sump it may not work at all.
Even at 1 foot you will likely be moving less than a gallon per minute meaning it will take a while to empty your bucket. I would go with something capable of moving water at least 6 feet vertically which will give you the power to move water much quicker from your bucket to your tank. I have found that the faster and easier water changes are, the more likely I am to perform them on a regular basis.
The max-jet 1200 is a great little utility pump which accommodates 1/2" tubing on the output.

If you were willing to go a little higher in price I would say the Eheim compact 1000 would be an even better choice based on the fact it can produce a bit more pressure.

I hope this helps!
Have a great day :)
