Why does BRS recommend this?
Anytime we are setting up a booster pump system we will install a DMFit strainer before it to keep the pump running quiet and lasting a long time. A sediment filter before a booster pump will help your expensive pump last a lifetime. The DMFit filter strainer will only remove larger particles that can damage the booster pumps internals while leaving smaller sediments that do not cause any harm through for your RODI sediment filter.

Would this be acceptable to use as a sediment filter from my salt water storage bin?
Hesitant to use stainless in a salt water solution.
Also, wondering if you’d elect to use it on the suction or pressure side of the dosing pump?

Thanks for the question! This is not a great option for a sediment filter for a saltwater storage bin. You'll want to use a GFO/Carbon reactor and rather than using media just use a sediment filter instead and a standard feed pump to remove debris from your stored saltwater.

Purchased this Filter strainer. However, I’m confused as to which inlet to insert the source water into the filter strainer. The direction of the arrows does not make sense to me. To me the water source should be connected to the top inlet and out the side inlet into the booster pump. But the arrows indicate water flow to go through the side and out the top. Can you clarify the correct way to install? Thank you!!

Want to purchase a prefilter/sediment block before water enters the booster pump. Does the DMFit have filters that need to be changed or just rinsed out and re used. And is this the only pre filter you have for the aquatech 8800?

HI Paul,
This is the prefilter for the booster pump and is the type Aquatec recommends. Its a large mesh strainer and while its not serviceable, its really only designed to catch very large particles like sand (smaller particles pass through both the strainer and the pump just fine). Most folks don't ever clog the filter but in the event that it is, it would need to be replaced.
