Protect your fish from parasites like flukes, tapeworms, flatworms, and turbellarians in your reef tank. If you see symptoms of infection, we recommend removing all fish to a quarantine system for treatment. This is a very gentle and safe treatment, but can negatively affect desirable invertebrates as well.

Features

  • Gentle and effective
  • Liquid concentrate praziquantel treatment
  • Won't negatively impact biological filtration
  • Use as a treatment or to prevent infection
  • Non-toxic to common aquarium inhabitants and plants
  • For use in freshwater or marine aquariums

Hikari Directions For Use

Start treatment with as large a water change as practical or start with new water. Any water used should first be conditioned with ULTIMATE or a combination of Liquid Buffered ClorAm-X and Stress-X to remove ammonia, chlorine, and chloramines. Do not stop filtration, but remove activated carbon and stop foam-fractionation (protein skimming) and UV sterilization. SHAKE VIGOROUSLY before use. Measure Aquarium Solutions Liquid PraziPro at the rate of one (1) teaspoon per 20 gallons of water to be treated. (one (1) fl. oz. per 120 gallons) Measure Pond Solutions Liquid PraziPro at the rate of one (1) teaspoon per 32 gallons of water to be treated. (one (1) fl. oz. per 200 gallons) This produces a concentration of 2.5 mg/L. Distribute the proper amount around the edge of the aquarium or pond or directly into the filter box to achieve the best overall distribution. A single treatment lasting 5-7 days is normally sufficient. Repeat as necessary, but no more than once every 3 to 5 days. May be used as a preventative, at the standard dosage, when a disease is likely. Do not use with other drugs or disease treatments. May cause temporary foaming.

Product Questions

Using this for a 2,500 gallon quarantine system with koi in it. Salinity is 3ppt and will be using this as well as melafix. We want to quarantine for a month so what dose is recommended and how often? Can we still do weekly water changes (10-20%)?
Question by: Lex on Nov 12, 2025, 10:56 AM
Hi Lex! This is what I would recommend:

Day 1 - Add full dose (625 mL).
Day 7 - Perform 10–20% water change, then re-dose based on replaced water (see below).
Day 14 - Optional full-system second dose if visually nothing has gotten better
Day 21–30 - Observe fish; if flashing or respiratory irritation persist, repeat full dose once more.

Also:
Turn off carbon/UV during dosing
Safe with Melafix and 3 ppt salinity

How long after dosing PraziPro before turning skimmer and UV light back on?
Question by: Eliot on Nov 9, 2022, 7:47 PM
It is suggested to wait at least two hours after dosing before you turn your skimmer back on. Even then, it may cause excessive short-term foaming.

Should I remove filter media like Chemi Clean or Purigen while using this?
Question by: Bryan Tarr on Oct 14, 2022, 8:56 AM
Thanks for the question! I'm assuming you mean ChemiPure rather than chemi clean since chemi clean is a cyano treatment. In either scenario you want both of them removed along with the Purigen as ChemiPure and Purigen will remove the medication. Please let us know if we can help with anything else!
Answer by: Kyle Thomas (BRS Staff) on Oct 14, 2022, 9:11 AM
Do you need to do a water change after treatment? If so, how much?
Question by: Alexis on Aug 15, 2022, 9:05 PM
Thanks for the question! We recommend a small 10-25% water change after treatment then running carbon for a 3-5 days after treatment to remove it, but Prazi will naturally break down over time on it's own and there is no harm in not doing a water change. Please let us know if we can help with anything else!

Answer by: Noah Winn on Jan 12, 2018, 11:50 AM
Can this medication be used in a QT tank at the same time as copper meds?
Question by: brian on May 14, 2017, 8:25 AM
Hey there,
There should be no interaction problems between prazinquantel and copper meds. It's quite common for both to be used at the same time in QT.

Happy reefing!
Answer by: Zack on May 17, 2017, 11:33 AM
Can this be added to an existing reef tank? Is it safe for inverts?
Question by: Joel Brewer on Jul 3, 2016, 4:44 PM
Great question!
This is reef safe for coral and inverts. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.
