Pentair Aquatics is a well-known player in the aquarium UV game and for good reason. Their long history of producing top-notch equipment for our aquariums is hard to match. Their Smart UV Sterilizers are robust, reliable, and most importantly effective.
Why Use a UV Sterilizer?
A UV sterilizer is a valuable tool for an aquarium, using ultraviolet light to effectively combat harmful pathogens like bacteria, viruses, and parasites. This not only diminishes diseases but also tackles the issue of free-floating algae and bacteria that cause green and cloudy water. Their efficiency can potentially mean a reduced dependency on medications, especially beneficial when introducing new inhabitants to the tank. Importantly, this method is chemical-free and doesn't alter the aquarium's water chemistry.
Maintenance
For optimal performance, replace the bulb annually. This is crucial even if the light remains functional, as its emitted spectrum may shift over time, potentially decreasing efficacy. To maximize the UV light's efficiency, clean the quartz sleeve every few months to prevent buildup, ensuring unobstructed light exposure to the circulating water.

Product Questions
If planning to use:
https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/sm-clamp-for-pvc-pipe.html?queryID=5dbd52eaf96dd49dd21de9737c69b890&objectID=3400&indexName=brs_prod_m2_default_products
clamps, would the three inch have plenty of extra space on the ratched for 3.5 inches? (If so why is it called a three inch?) Or, does the four inch ratchet down to 3.5 inches? Perhaps a better question would be what are the ratchting size ranges of both the three inch clamp and the four inch clamp?
Thank you

These are the suggested flow rates found on the BRS site for this uv sterilizer.
Thank you for reaching out to us. You will want to use the faster algae rate for Dinos.
Please let me know if you need anything further and take care!
I would plumb the UV sterlizer with tubing no smaller than 3/4" tubing to avoid excessive back pressure on your pump and the resulting flow loss.
I hope this helps!
Happy Reefing
Happy reefing!
You will need the 3" PVC pipe clamp. This will be a slightly loose fit however will hold the Sterilizer perfectly! Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Unfortunately we have not looked into UV's effect on ORP. We still us ORP in conjunction to keep consistent levels when dealing with Ozone however UV should not have the same impact as Ozone on ORP levels. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
The difference will lay on the size of the water to flow through the reactors. The Lite is a smaller design with less contact time for the water. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
We do not have the mounting option for the UV sterilizer for sale however it may be available through the manufacturer directly. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

The best flow option would be the Bacteria, Algae flow as this will not help to sterilize established algae or Dino but rather will keep free floating forms in the water column from reproducing. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
This will not come with any of the plumbing supplies. However this can be plumbed in to make it barb fitting which can work with 1/2" tubing. This is a common size for most pump and would work well!

For best performance you will want to replace the bulb once every 1-2 years to keep up with the proper amount. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Sorry I don't quite follow your question but this unit does have a body with a diameter of about 3.5"
