Overview

The ECC Silent Night Favites shows deep violet corallites ringed with a bright neon-green rim, forming a low, fleshy dome that slowly encrusts the plug and nearby rock. Start it in moderate light with gentle to moderate, indirect flow so the tissue stays puffy. Mount on stable rock or sand with a bit of space, as Favites can extend short nighttime sweepers that may sting neighbors. Keep alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium steady with nutrients above zero; occasional feedings can support long-term health and growth.

Ideal Tank Placement

Position favites where the water current isn’t too turbulent but has a steady flow, preventing detritus from settling onto the coral. Place it in an area where it has some room to grow and encrust. This could be on the rockwork or directly onto the aquarium glass in a bare bottom setup.

Water Flow Requirements

Moderate water flow is ideal. Aim for movement that’s enough to gently shift the coral’s tissue without blasting it directly, as this helps to keep debris from collecting on the surface and promotes healthy growth.
