BRS RO Systems are compact, upgradeable, and most importantly, affordable. With upgraded filters and fittings vs the "budget" systems, it's easy to see why BRS RO Systems have been used by so many aquarium hobbyists over the years.

4 Stages of Filtration

Sediment Filter: Stage 1 is the first pre-filter in the system and the first line of defense to remove particles 5 microns and larger from the source water.

Chlorine & VOC Carbon Block Filter: Stage 2 is the first of the two carbon blocks that come pre-installed in the system. This filter is particularly good at removing chlorine. If your source water contains chloramines, we suggest swapping this filter out for a BRS Universal Carbon Block

Universal Carbon Block: The Universal Carbon Block is the last pre-filter before the water flows to the RO Membrane. BRS Universal Carbon Blocks have been specially formulated for industry leading chloramine and chlorine reduction. Quite simply, this is the best carbon block we sell.

RO Membrane: This RO system utilizes a top quality 75 GPD DOW Filmtec Membrane. This is the industry standard for high performing reverse osmosis membranes and has a rejection rate of up to 99% at peak performance.

Product Questions

Does this kit include a flow restrictor? Did not see it listed in the parts list. Thanks.
Question by: Dustin on Jan 6, 2020, 6:55 PM
Great question! This would have a flow restrictor, but not one the contains a flush valve.

Hello what is difference between stage 4&5? Can this water be used as reef tank top off with no nitrates?
Question by: Matt on May 7, 2017, 12:51 PM
Hey there,
The 5 stage system provides dual carbon blocks, which may be an advantage for cities using higher levels off disinfectants such as chloramine, but where TDS and general water quality is moderate and a dual DI resin stage is not needed or wanted. This ensures that there is minimal pass-through at normal production rates and this protects the membrane and keeps it running in peak shape. The membrane will remove upwards of 85% of nitrate from your tap water, and any residual nitrate will be removed by the DI stage.

Hope this helps!

Do you have a RO only system that does 150 gpd.
Question by: Kenneth Burch on Jan 18, 2017, 10:23 PM
Hey there! We do not currently sell a 150GPD RO only unit, however we do carry the 150GPD upgrade kit that you can purchase separately and install. :-)

The flow of water is very low. What could be the problem and how to fix that?
Question by: Arthur Lee on May 17, 2016, 4:15 PM
Great question!
The flow will come out at a steady trickle into very slow stream. For trouble shooting you will want to contact our customer service team directly. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

How often do you have to replace the 3 filters? I've had mine for a few months now and the filters are darker.
Question by: Adam on Mar 31, 2016, 4:11 PM
Great question!
Ideally the 3 filters should be changed when the TDS on the DI resin is above 0. Typically this is between 6-9 months and sometimes as late as 12 months. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

What is the waste water to filtered water ratio? It seems that there is a lot of waste water.
Question by: Chris Chalmers on Mar 24, 2016, 1:04 PM
Great question!
The ratio of waste to product water is 4:1 (4 parts waste to 1 part product water) This will vary of course depending on the pressure and quality of the incoming water. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
