Silent & Powerful Freshwater Lighting

  • 6,000K - 9,000K Spectrum Range
  • Integrated Heat Sink
  • Silent Operation
  • On-board Dimming Control

The Kessil A80 Tuna Sun is a light specifically designed for aquarium plant growth. With the color and intensity knobs on the fixture, it's easy to tune the light to the perfect spectrum that's the most visually appealing and just the right intensity for the plants you're keeping in your aquarium. Using just 15 watts of power, the A80 Tuna Sun is one of the most energy efficient lights in its class and when you consider how much light it puts out, the efficiency is truly impressive.

Sleek & Silent Design

The innovative design of the A80 integrates the heatsink for the LEDs right into the body of the light, allowing for heat transfer without the need for a fan. The fanless design results in a silent light fixture that's perfect for bedrooms, offices, or other areas where noise isn't appreciated.

Dense Matrix LED

Kessil builds their unique & efficient Dense Matrix LED array in-house and packs high-power and deep penetration into a single tiny array. The result is different wavelengths seamlessly blended together, emitting uniform color across the coverage range. This not only improves the visual appeal of the light entering the aquarium, but also reduces hot spots and provides a more uniform coloration and coverage over the tank. As a result, a beautiful shimmer affect will appear in the aquarium, giving the tank an appearance of increased depth and contrast.

Kessil Logic

After many years of R&D, Kessil Logic can be found on all of Kessil's LED lights. The A80 allows you to fine tune the overall color and intensity that the light puts out while keeping a spectrum that will be optimal for plant growth and health. With the Kessil Spectral Controller X or your favorite aquarium controller that has a 0-10v reference, you can set complete day cycles that ramp up and down, while keeping a consistent output and spectrum.

Product Questions

Would two of these be sufficient for a 45 gallon (36x12x23) freshwater planted tank? With just some medium- lowlight plants?
Question by: Zoie on Jan 7, 2018, 4:57 PM
Thanks for contacting BRS!
Two Kessil A80 Tuna Suns would cover that size of tank nicely. Have a great day!

I plan on running a 2'x2'x12" display fuge with various types of macro algae, would the A80 be sufficient for this type of system?
Question by: Gabe on Dec 4, 2016, 10:33 PM
Hey there,
For a shallow tank like this, the A80 should do a fine job. The H380 will most likely grow the algae the best due to spectrum, but if aesthetics are a concern, the Tuna Sun series can grow plant life quite nicely as well. Depending the distribution of algae in the fuge, you may find that a couple of A80's might be necessary to get the best coverage.

Have a great day!

Would the a80 tuna sun make a good refugium light to grow Chaetomorpha???
Question by: Ken on Nov 24, 2016, 7:16 PM
Great question! Although the Tuna Sun is intended for freshwater systems, it could be utilized to effectively grow macro algae in the refugium. :-)
