Add Plumbing to Curved Surfaces

  • Creates a Tight, Leak-Resistant Seal on Curved Surfaces
  • Perfect for Buckets, Brute Trash Cans, and Larger Water Mixing Drums
  • Works with Standard Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 PVC
  • A Must-Have for Custom Mixing Stations

Uniseals make plumbing into curved or irregular surfaces simple and reliable. Traditional bulkheads require flat mounting surfaces, which makes them difficult or impossible to install on buckets, storage drums, Brute trash cans, or cylindrical containers. Uniseals solve that problem by flexing tightly around PVC pipe and forming a secure seal even on rounded surfaces.

They work with standard Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC and are commonly used in saltwater mixing stations.

Uniseal Size Fits Schedule 40 or 80 PVC Pipe Hole Saw Size
½ inch ½ inch 1¼ inch or 31.7 mm (32 mm)
¾ inch ¾ inch 1¼ inch or 31.7 mm (32 mm)
1 inch 1 inch 1¾ inch or 44 mm
1¼ inch 1¼ inch 2 inch or 50.8 mm
1½ inch 1½ inch 2½ inch or 64 mm
2 inch 2 inch 3 inch or 76 mm

How to Install a Uniseal

  1. Use the correct hole saw size for your Uniseal and cut the opening in your container.
  2. Clean the hole and remove any sharp edges or burrs. Rough cuts can prevent a proper seal.
  3. Press the Uniseal into the hole with the wide flange facing the outside of the container.
  4. Prepare the pipe by removing any burrs or sharp edges. Lightly file the end if needed.
  5. Insert the pipe through the Uniseal. A small amount of silicone o-ring lubricant can be used to make this easier.

Product Questions

I’m assuming that the hole you drill for a 2” uniseal is a 2” hole?
Question by: Joel Holliday on Dec 21, 2024, 3:00 PM
You drill a Holesaw size: 3" or 76mm. There is a chart on the product page if needed.
Answer by: Matt Lucero (BRS Staff) on Jan 2, 2025, 8:04 AM
Witch uniseal will go into a schedule 40 1" pvc pipe. I am building the inline heater from he king of diy's YouTube channel.
Question by: Bryce Coats on Jun 8, 2017, 12:11 PM
Our fittings are based on the nominal pvc rating, so for 1" ID pvc pipe, you'll want to select the 1" uniseal.

Have a great day!

If I were making a prob holder for my sump would a probe fit into the 1/2" uniseal?
Question by: John Hendrickson on May 20, 2017, 1:47 PM
Hey there,
I'm afraid the probes are a bit too small and would not be able to seal with a 1/2" Uniseal.

Regards
Answer by: Zack on May 22, 2017, 5:09 PM
Are the prices listed, per uniseal? Or do these come in a package? If so, how many?
Question by: Larry C on Aug 16, 2016, 3:02 PM
Great question! The price is per each individual uniseal. :-) Thanks!
Answer by: Randy on Aug 16, 2016, 6:14 PM
If the OD of a 3/4" pvc is slightly over 1", you still use a 3/4" uniseal? I shouldn't bump up to a 1"?? Thanks for any info.
Question by: brian matthews on Jul 27, 2016, 7:41 AM
Hi there,
When it comes to PVC the best thing to do is take your tape measure and throw it away. PVC is nominal sizing and just because it says its ¾” you most likely will not find an exact ¾” dimension anywhere on the pipe. If your PVC is ¾” you will want to use a ¾” Uniseal, along with all other fittings and valves.
Answer by: Charlie on Jul 27, 2016, 8:45 AM
How thick can the wall material be? Can it be used on two walls like attaching an external overflow (similar to a ghost overflow)?
Question by: Aharon on Feb 10, 2016, 9:26 AM
Great question!
We do not recommend using a uniseal on anything wider than 1/4-5/16". Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor on Feb 10, 2016, 12:23 PM
I am planning to use uniseals for my ATO, mixing, and water change tanks. What can I use for lubrication on the pipe that won't contaminate the water?
Question by: David on Aug 13, 2014, 5:32 AM
Hi David,

In the past I have actually just used water or saliva but many people recommend things like silicone o-ring lubricant, non-ammonia windex and vegetable oil. Just give the container a good rinse after everything is installed and you should be good to go!

Hope this helps!
Have a great day :)

Will they work with schedule 40 pipe?
If so, what diameter pipe for a 1 inch uniseal
Question by: chris on Aug 3, 2014, 9:03 AM
Hi Chris,
Yes. All plumbing is sized with nominal plumbing sizes which takes into account the correct size fittings for the pipe regardless of whether they are sch40, 80, etc. For a 1" pipe you would want a 1" uniseal.
Answer by: Bulk Reef Supply on Aug 3, 2014, 9:03 AM
Can a uni seal be reused? i need to pull the pipe out and install a longer one.
Thanks.
Jack
Destin, Fl.
Question by: Jack on Mar 17, 2014, 11:42 AM
Hi Jack,
That is just fine. Just be careful removing it to not rip or tear on the uniseal and you will be just fine.
Answer by: Bulk Reef Supply on Mar 17, 2014, 11:42 AM
Will it work with tubings?
Question by: Paul on Feb 27, 2014, 3:28 PM
Hi Paul,
The uniseals are made to work with pipe. The diameter of the pipe pushes out and is what seals against the walls of the uniseal. A flexible tube would most likely leak.
