Fluval Stratum - Fostering Extensive Root Development
- Encourages strong plant growth
- Porous structure for rapid colonization of beneficial bacteria
- Helps support neutral to slightly acidic pH
Collected from the mineral-rich foothills of Mount Aso Volcano in Japan, Fluval Stratum makes an ideal alternative substrate for planted aquariums and those featuring shrimp.
The 3 -5 mm granule size is perfect for plants with larger root systems. Stratum can be used either as a main substrate or as a bottom layer in planted aquariums with deep root networks. As a bonus, it can also provide newborn shrimp with a refuge from predators until they are large enough to emerge.
Maintains Ideal Water Parameters
Supporting a neutral to slightly acidic pH, Stratum substrates are ideal for live plants as well as tropical fish and shrimp commonly kept in planted aquariums. Stratum granules provide a natural way to soften water and reduce carbonate hardness, all without staining or discoloring aquarium water.
Fluval offers two versions of this popular substrate: Stratum & Bio-Stratum. See how they compare:
