The PhosBan Reactor 150 is designed to push water upwards from the bottom and through the media. This forces an even distribution of water throughout the media and prevents channeling from occurring. This is also great for fluidizing media such as GFO where the filter media needs to tumble gently and evenly. The PhosBan 150 media reactor has a low profile and built-in hanging bracket making it ideal for "hang on the back" applications. The Phosban reactor works with a variety of filter medias such as activated carbon, GFO, and biopellets.

  • Great for HOB applications
  • Includes ball valve
  • Works great with Phosban Media
  • Requires feed pump

The PhosBan 150 can be mounted under the aquarium or hung on the back of the aquarium. It comes with barb hose fittings for 1/2" tubing and a 1/2" barbed ball valve included for flow control. The Phosban 150 is compatible with any pump that uses 1/2" tubing and a flow rate between 100 and 250gph.

Specifications:

  • Max Media Capacity - 200 grams
  • Inlet Tube - 1/2"
  • Outlet Tube - 1/2"
  • Max Flow Rate - 250 gph
  • Dimensions - 14.25" H x 3.0" W x 4.0" L
  • Distance required behind tank for HOB application - 4.0" min

  • Phosban 150 Lid

Can I set this inside the sump to save space?
Question by: Dan Fain on Mar 8, 2023, 2:39 PM

Yes, you can absolutely set this inside the sump :)

I bought a 150 gal tank from someone that came with this and a lifeguard aquatics (also 150 gal) will both reactors accept biopellets and carbon or is there media that can't be used in them
Question by: Dillan smith on Feb 2, 2023, 4:37 PM
0
Biopellets require movement to function properly, so as long as the biopellets are tumbling they can be used in any kind of reactor. The carbon can definitely be used in any reactor.

Thanks for reaching out to us! The nice thing about reactors is as long as the media is installed properly, they are pretty universal!

I want to use polyethylene tubes with this. Can I use them?
Question by: Daryl Noe on Jan 2, 2019, 11:46 AM

Thanks for contacting BRS!
Unfortunately, this product will only work with 1/2" ID tubing and the RO tubing is 1/2" OD so they would not be compatible. Have a great day!

What type of pump do you recommend for the PhosBan Reactor 150? I assume it is a submersed water pump?
Question by: Ingrid Jordon-Thaden on Mar 12, 2018, 11:16 AM

Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out.
A Sicce 1.0 would be a great pump to add to the PhosBan 150:

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Can I use this to run both carbon and GFO in one reactor. Which BRS GFO and Carbon would you recommend? How often should I change media? I have a 66G aquarium
Question by: Khurram Zaveri on Nov 11, 2017, 10:48 AM

You can mix the two medias together and run both in the same reactor. We suggest using our reef calculator to determine the exact amount of media to use for your system. If you are mixing the two media we also suggest sticking with ROX carbon, but you can choose if you want to use high capacity GFO or standard GFO. You will want to exchange the media every two weeks since carbon is not all that effective past 2 weeks.

What distance or what is the maximum length of tubing allowed on a phosbN reactor
Question by: Gary Viggiano on May 31, 2017, 4:11 PM

There isn't really a specific length of hose for this reactor, but rather distance and height limitations would be based on the pump you are using to drive water.

Have a great day!

Hi, I wanted to buy the phosban reactor for my Innovative Marine Fusion 20, and I was wondering if it was possible for me to connect the return of the reactor directly to the tank's return nozzle. Do I need some type of adapter to make sure it works, and is leak proof?
Question by: Randy Nguyen on Jun 12, 2016, 4:50 AM

Great question!
This potentially could work at both tubing are 1/2" inside diameter. The reactor would reduce flow from the system but could work by using the barb fittings. Zip ties or small hose clamps may be used as well. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

I've heard the improper set-up or to much medium can crash your tank. Can you explain ?
Question by: Steve Witte on Apr 6, 2016, 7:35 PM

Great question!
When using Carbon or GFO in a reactor you should use the recommended amount listed in our aquarium calculator. There is a chance that running excessive GFO will shock the system with changes. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

Could you recommend a pump?
Question by: Steve on Mar 31, 2016, 12:02 PM

Great question!
A popular and durable option is the Sicce 1.5 which has 1/2" barb fitting to work with tubing. An alternative can include the Cobalt MJ1200 or the maxijet 1200 as well. I have included a few links below!

What size aquarium would you recommend this size reactor for?
Question by: Lamonte Hale on Mar 13, 2016, 2:41 PM

Great question!
These can work well on tanks from 75 to 150. If on larger tanks you typically will need alternative higher capacity media such as ROX 0.8 Carbon or High Capacity GFO. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

I have the Phosban 150 reactor from when I used to run bio-pellets. Can I use this reactor to run BRS GFO, BRS high capacity GFO or should I stick with Phosban as the reactor was originally intended for?

Thanks,

Ross

Great question!
The Phosban reactor can work great with GFO! Make sure the foam pads are in place and it will work without issue. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

hey,
im wanting to possibly hang this on the side of my sump using the bracket, do you happen to know how tall this reactor is? my sump wall is 16 1/2 in. would it hang there?
Thank you!!!
Question by: Tyler on Sep 2, 2014, 6:50 AM

Hi Tyler,

I measured 11 1/2" from the bottom of the reactor to the bottom of the bracket so you should have plenty of room to hand it in your sump.

I hope this helps!
Have a great day :)
