This cartridge is used for holding biopellets in the BRS reactor. It uses a plastic strainer rather than foam to help avoid clogging.
This cartridge can also be used in the standard BRS GFO & Carbon Reactor.

i want to use carbon and gfo. I have the reactor canisters and wondered if I should use these , rather than the older foam style cartridges?

Compared to the old style the new, hard shell reactors last longer over time and allows you to see the media much easier. Some people still prefer the old style, but almost all of us here at BRS now prefer the new Hard Shell Cartridges for all media types.

The cartridge itself is the same but it lacks the sponge pads that the reactor cartridge has.

Hi Morgan,
This reactor isn't compatible with any other types of media other then biopellets so it does not contain any foam disks (nor are foam disks compatible with biopellets). For other types of media such as GFO and carbon you would want to purchase a GFO/Carbon reactor.
